Artist Spotlight - Mark Maganga.

Mark Maganga is a self-taught visual artist based in Nairobi, known for his dynamic depictions of vehicles that sit between realism and abstraction.
Raised in Taita Taveta County, his early fascination with automobiles was shaped by watching cars pass through local markets and by exposure to the East African Safari Rally. These early experiences continue to inform his visual language, where movement, speed, and form become central motifs.
Working with dramatic angles, reflective chrome surfaces, and expressive composition, Maganga explores both the engineering precision and emotional presence of automobiles. His paintings position vehicles not only as objects of design, but as carriers of memory, aspiration, and cultural identity.
Through this approach, his work continues to blur the boundary between art and machinery, preserving the energy and spirit of the vehicles that inspire him.
