A pair Basket, Ifugao, Philippines

A stunning pair of Ifugao baskets with great patina . It's a good example of traditional craftsmanship. One basket is round with a wide base and a narrow neck, topped with a snugly fitting lid and a handle attached to its sides. The other is rectangular with rounded edges, also featuring a secure lid. The baskets were used for storage, carrying and ceremonial functions. It's made from natural plant fibre of bamboo and rattan. There is some light wear and tear consistent with age and usage. Crafted mid 20th century measurements are square basket H 17 cm x W 23 cm, round basket H 20 cm x W 16 cm.
